Background
information about Brad Leutwyler
Greetings! I am
Brad Leutwyler. I teach for a
living. Presently, I teach Logic and
Critical Thinking for the UNLV. I also
teach for Kaplan Educational and Testing
Services. I have written a few books
(nothing as personally aggrandizing as an
autobiography: I write text books for
graduate students mostly), and I am in the
process of writing two others. I am
married to Christine Lord-Leutwyler,
brilliant glass artist and self-described,
"rock & roll girl." We have a daughter
named Grace who is seven years old...at
least chronologically.
I grew up
on a farm in the woods of North Plains,
Oregon. My grandparents had a farm,
and we had a house on a small plot of land.
My paternal grandparents lived in the main
farmhouse, we lived in a house nestled in
the woods, as did the family of my dad's
brother. My paternal granddad was a
WWII officer in the Navy, and was extremely
conservative. That should give you a
taste of the environment I grew up in.
I spent my summers harvesting strawberries
with the migrant farm workers, bucking hay
and cutting fire wood for the winter.
I attended North Plains
Elementary School, at the time, a very
small, very old-school institution. I
attended Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro,
Oregon. From there, I attended Oregon
State University (where I studied political
science and communications), and then
attended Willamette University College of
Law. I "played" lawyer for a number of
years and became seriously conflicted by
it...but that's a whole story unto itself.
After that, I studied math and astrophysics
at Oregon State University and at the
University of New Mexico. The plan was
to get a PhD. in astrophysics, physics or
optics, but it has not happened yet...IT
WILL!
